Why is George the “smartest” giant in town?

Some words in English have the same spelling but different meanings. “SMART” is a clear example of this. 

In the story “The Gruffalo”, the mouse was a smart character because he was very intelligent. 

In the story “The Smartest Giant in Town”, George is also smart. Is it because he is intelligent? We will have to start reading to discover why George is the SMARTEST giant in town!!
